Which games console?

ok - I know the responses will be based on personal pref, but i'm looking for something in particular.
The last games thing I had was the PS2 when it first came out. I don't use them much but I have a specific requirement to learn the Nordshleife as best as is possible with one of these games thingys.
I have looked, and the PS2 still works. What is the best game to buy?
or - is it worth investing in another machine
1. XBOX?
2. PS3?
Which is best for driving realism and as accurate as possible track recreation?
I used to play Gran Turismo when I was a sprog - but the realism just wasn't there in the early versions. Bouncing off other cars etc. Is this better now?
No point in going down the PC route - as I have a laptop for work, and dont' intend having any other PC based computer cluttering up the house! :-)

Do you want to play games, watch HD Blueray movies, plug in a PlayTV and turn it into a Freeview PVR, etc? Buy a PS3 but be aware you are paying an extra £130 for it.
Also, GT5 isn't out until next year and there is no decent, 100% realistic game like it on PS3 at the moment. Xbox 360 has Forza 2.
Before you do either, though, buy GT4 for a tenner preowned on the high street. It's probably all you need.

Forza - have i see adverts with a chick on them? It looks like an arcade game, sliding around everywhere. I'd like more a simulation than a game if possible? I.e. - the grip levels should be realistic, braking, weight shift etc
Forza is not an arcade game and there are no hot chicks in it. I suspect you are mistaking it for another game. It isn't QUITE as realistic as GT4 on PS2 but it's not far off. You have a huge level of tweaking/fiddling options with the cars and it's aimed more at realism than arcade. If you powerslide around a corner in Forza, which it is entirely possible to do (As it is in any car) you'll get undertaken by everybody else on the grid.
But it's still a games console - for absolute realism you want a PC, a PC driving sim, and a Logitech G25 racing wheel.

Others will tell you it is no where near as good as some of the PC based driving games, but a few PHers race online which is good fun.

Xbox 360 - Forza 2 has been out a while (Forza 3 is probably on the way next year), has Nurburgring and car damage. There's a special edition version of Forza now that has all the DLC tracks and cars released included on a second disc.
PS3 - Gran Turismo 5 isn't out yet, there is no Nurb at the moment on the GT5 Prologue game, but it has been seen in screenshots. The cars still bounce in GT5 Prologue, but this might change with the full release of GT5.

I agree with the statement to just get GT4 on your PS2 and be done with it, it's still the most accurate representation of the 'Ring on any console game.
Forza 2 on the 360 is great, but why fork out for a whole new console when you've got the PS2 already and GT4 can be had for peanuts. If you've really got a hankering to spend money then I'd treat yourself to a G25 wheel to plug into your PS2 and get the best possible GT4 experience.

What he said!Seriously - I'd go for a copy of GT4 on the PS2. As has been said there really is no need to buy a new console just to play one driving game. Plus if you buy a new console you just know you'll buy other games and blow some more money a couple of months later......

I haven't been back to GT4 (well my PS2 at all!) since I bought my 360 several months ago.
I figured GT4 would be a bit of a disappointment, having been spoilt with HD Forza for the past couple of months!
