Spent a lttle time here recently, revisiting youthful locations & was amazed to find much of this has a 40mph limit. I can remember it in late 60`s when it was possible to motor at 100mph for a few miles in some places & certainly cruise @ 60+... (if lucky enough to be in friends dad`s V8 Rover) How long has it been like this??

Which section are you thinking of? Most of the stretch I use (A429 Cirencester - M40) is NSL

At least they are keeping the NSL and have investigated and are implementing things like renewing cats eyes and signing bends better.

Compare to Derbyshire that are simply sticking 50 limits willy-nilly without any real investigation into accidents.

Quite honestly ,they're doing just the same .Instance - one DC ,NSL at moment ,down to 50 --reason ?????,where perhaps getting some of the 45 PACE drivers out of the outside lane might do more good .But S/C left at NSL .Massive cost of replacing limits with lower ones ,yet no sign of local roads getting a decent repair job .
