Having a 14 month old baby boy got me thinking what is the earliest memory you have, I have a very vague memory of being at nursery so I would say about 4 years of age.( I was playing in the sand pit hunting beetles) I can also remember my first day at infant school. I am 44 now so maybe younger people 18 year old might remember more.
Try not to remember major events in your life as your parents/relatives will have told the story so many times you will actually be remembering something they have told you.

Boat trip in Falmouth. I distinctly rememeber the propellors of the massive ships nearby partially out of the water. Ships must have been light. I remember feeling scared that we were too close to them.

My parents reckon I wasn't even 2yo at the time.

I have some very vivid memories of re-enacting a scene from Zulu at pre-school nursery!

I was an odd child..

Several other bits and bobs from around that age too, cant work out what the very earliest memory is though, some pretty vague ones of being in a push chair.

I remember being taken to hospital by my dad when my mum was in having my brother. I was about 3 1/2 years old and remember him being in one of those old school incubator things (we were both caesarean born). We went in a green 1970's ford escort - nice!

Seeing my newborn baby sister for the first time. She was being held up by a nurse for me to see through the windows in the hospital doors. I was 2 yrs 9 mths old.
Skip forward a day and I remember holding her in the car on the way back from the hospital - sat behind my dad who was driving. (This was long before the days where baby-seats were required/recommended!)

ETA - It was a 1976 Ford Cortina 2.5L "Big Six" V6 station wagon.

Falling off a huge rock in my parents front garden, and smashing my head on the gravel below.

My mum reckons I was maybe 3 at the time, and it wasn't actually a huge rock, but a stone I had been balancing on, and had been told to get off several times.....Huh, now I don't believe that irked

This freaks me out sometimes but my earliest memory and it is a very short memory, was of me in my cot, in the spare room, I open my eyes (in the memory) and can see the white slats of the cot either side of me, it's dark but their is a flash outside (thinking it may have been sheet lightening) and this flash briefly lights the room and the cot, I can see the Bambi stickers at the end of my cot and see the mobile swinging above me. There the memory ends. The next nearest memory is my first day at nursery.

Drinking a cup of coffee in the front room of a house we moved out of before I was 3.

My mum's still got the mug!

Being woken by my older daughter at around 6am this morning...

I remember my 3rd Birthday, my parents opened the door and there in the middle of the room, badly wrapped in plain paper (or newspaper?), was a pedal car. I was ecstatic, I knew EXACTLY what it was because the steering wheel was sticking out of the top, and I then drove it whenever I could for the next 3 or 4 years. See, I was a Pedalhead once upon a time...

I remember nearly drowning in a swimming pool in Bournemouth. I clearly remember holding onto a rail which ran below the water level and seeing the small, sky blue tiles of the pool walls.

I was 27 months old at the time.

ETA: To add ten months to my age. smile

Benidorm when I was about 3. Power cut, huge thunder storm and standing at the window watching it. Also playing with toy diggers and stuff in the sand pit there. Eating chips and tomatos because I didn't like any of the other food. Later went back to the hotel and seen the places I remembered, made me realise it wasnt just something I made up in my head but was pretty close to the memory.

Cutting a finger tip off aged under 2, having it sewn back on sans anasthetic. I don't remember the bit between it happening and being on the operating table though.
I have a couple of other memories from the same age and younger that are equally pleasant.

President Kennedy being shot, (yes I know that's a cliche, just happens to be true)

I was born June 1961, you do the maths.
