Can anyone confirm the height of their swirlpot on the rear bulkhead (relative to the thermostat housing base) of a Canam for me? It looks like it will always have to be mounted lower than the thermostat housing outlet pipe by at least a couple of inches if you leave room to remove the cap. That means the top hose curves gently down to the swirlpot inlet.

That doesn't sound like it will work as air will be trapped. Are you sure you can't get it any higher?

That's what worries me. Probably get it higher by 1 inch but then the cap will be hard to remove. It will still me marginally level or below the thermo outlet.

The top pipe of my swirl pot is just level with the thermostat, their is about an inch and a half space to remove the top, this doesnt cause any difficulties for me. I have never had any problems with air locking, mine bleads up straight away

I spent a lot of time worrying about the same thing when I was building my car. I even purchased a filler cap that fits on top of the thermostat.....

However with a bit of careful positioning I did manage to get mine just higher (and I do mean just) than the therostat and must say I've never had a problem with overheating.

My advice is get a spirit level on the therostat and mark the bulkhead where the filler goes, it helps put the level into perspective.

I have the build manual and should be receiving my GTR at end of November.

I read quite a bit of detailed installation information in these topics that is not in my manual. A good example is the positioning of the swirlpot. My manual is mostly pictures. Either that's the way it is or I just can't find the detail verbiage instructions within the manual.

You may not find many of these details in the manual but should ,for the most part, get by with the thousand odd photos on the CD.
If not then ask here or look at the owners build sites that are around. Start with CJ's.
Don't charge ahead in the hope that you have it right. Ask here cos we seem to have almost 24/7 coverage.
