So does anyone know the difference between the different specs?

I'm looking at circa '02 320i touring and just wondered what the differences between the trim levels were.

Thanks!

ES got sports steering wheel and gear knob, but lost just about everything else I think including climate.

SE got climate, dimming mirrors, storage, PDC and a couple of other bits.

Sport got the M-Tech body kit, steering wheel, seats, gear knob and m-tech suspension but lost the PDC and dimming mirrors of the SE.

Sport is definitely the one to have.

Yeah most of them do have it, but they were options that most people ticked. But I have bought two and then been disapointed that the dimming mirrors were not there.

The ES has body coloured bit to brighten up the base model.

Confusingly, you will find the occasional ES with a higher spec than an SE (multi function wheel, auto dimming mirror, 17" alloys, leather etc), and SEs with mtech suspension, gear knob and steering wheel (like my E36).

The joys of BMW making most items an extra and offering them on all models!

n.b. I seem to recall that the ES has sports suspension, but don't know if this was the same as a sport....

If you're looking at a 320 then you're not looking for a perfomance car. I'd be inclined to buy a well specced ES or an SE over a Sport as you will get a nicer car for the money.

I always thought that the specs ran from low to high, ie. ES/SE/Sport...

ES: black door handles, manual a/c, no pdc, m/f wheel or dipping mirror, manual rear windows
SE: body coloured handles, auto a/c, pdc, dipping mirrors, rear electric windows, m/f wheel
Sport: as SE plus M stuff - sports seats, suspension, gearknob, wheel, bodykit, 18" alloys
