Got pointed to this tidbit this evening - the only sex position legal in Florida is the missionary position. And oral is a big no no as well. And kissing your wife's breast is frowned upon.

So now you know!

That used to be one of only three things in the UK that still carried the death penalty:

Treason
Setting Fire to Her Majesty's Dockyards
Impersonating a Chelsea Pensioner.

Thanks the Uk & US having laws based on precedent, we have lots of daft laws still on the books that no-one has used for hundreds of years.

My personal favourite is it is illegal to chain an alligator to a fire hydrant in some town in arizona - I'd love to know how that came about, should be a good story smile

How about someone else's wife's breasts? How do they stand on that?

Good job they dont have an OXO tower in florida then... the jails would be full of people who made a joke on an internet forum about taking the missus there..

mind you taking the missus to a restaurant should be illegal

Where as we abolish old laws and implement new laws just as ridiculous as the old ones. It's like one big merry go round!

One of the other ones that still stands:

Any person found breaking a boiled egg at the sharp end will be sentenced to 24 hours in the village stocks (enacted by Edward VI).

I'd love to see the rozzers marching down the drive to bung you in the stocks.

"On what charge?"
"You opened your boiled egg at the sharp end, sir..."

I heard of one in the US of not being allowed to cross a pedestrian crossing with an ice cream cone in your back pocket. Awesome. I do that all the time!

It's illegal to eat oranges in a Boston Hotel bedroom. (obviously enacted by a local councillor who ran a hotel and got sick of the peel or something)

My favourite was during the Queens silver jubilee.
A bloke in Scotland printed up a load of quilt covers with the Queens coat of arms on them.
Some over zealous copper nicked him for "Usurping of the Monarch Arms" a law from 14XX.
They dropped the case when they found the only penalty for a guilty verdict was to be Hung, Drawn and Quartered.

I think it may have been removed from the statute books since then. But I wouldn't put money on it.

I'm glad I don't live there - I don't like the missionary position, the dog-collar is so annoying. wink

I believe that shooting (with a longbow) a Welshman within the city limits of Chester is still legal.

There are 2 ancient laws relating to despatching the filthy Welsh in Chester:

- You can legally shoot a welshman from the city walls with a longbow

- Yuu can lynch any Welsh found within the city walls after dark.
