Last Friday I was working closely with a guy who had just got over a cold. He was sniffling all over the show and I was worried that I would catch what he had.
I DID start to feel ill on friday night but by Saturday I was OK.
Then on Monday evening I started to really feel ill. I went to work yesterday, but it was a major struggle to even get out of bed. My glands and tonsils were totally swollen, it hurt every time I swallowed, and I ached all over. Last night I was sweating profusely all night in bed.
I didnt go to work today and have made an appointment to see my doctor at 5pm this afternoon.
the thing is, in the last hour or so, I have started to feel slightly better and the swelling has gone down a bit.
Was it just a fever?
So, whats wrong with me?

Do this right now:

-Stop any form of human contact,
-put up an unbreachable perimeter around the house
-designate your front hall a 'decontamination zone'
-throw face masks out of the window at passing pedestrians
-also ring a bell and periodically shout 'unclean'
-paint a red cross on the door

Because Hoppy,

you have....

A bad cold.

You will live.

Virus. Go see doc, they will prescribe you lots of useless antibiotics as its easier just in case you sue them, which will do nothing than increase your resistance to antibiotics and mean that in 5 years you will die of an ingrowing toenail! But at least you cannot sue them then and he wont lose his £130k a year "job!"

I had something like this a few years ago, it was a glandular infection. Is a right bastid, had a sore throat, fever and total lack of energy. Was advised to take 2 weeks off work by the doc as was working in catering at the time. Think SSP was about £35 p/w frown

Sounds like you're not clever enough to see a real doctor to me. That would be my diagnosis.

Tonsilitis yes

You get a brief period where you feel a bit better, and then you get the white spots on the tongue and the brain tumour.

The funny thing is, and you'll like this... biggrin You can only treat it in the first stage (before the respite) otherwise death is inevetible...

When you're around 80-90

How so?

It reads like you're worried about getting ill from someone near you who is ill, then seeing the symptoms, then getting over them quicker than you ought.
