Calling all Grand Prix fans that are heaving a massive sigh of relief that F1 is coming back to the BEEEEEB. No more infernal ads and inane music.
However, please e-mail Radio Times demanding the re-introduction of that most iconic of GP coverage themes: "the chain" by Fleetwood Mac.
Hopefully many will concur that it is synonymous with F1 on the television and will probably swell the viewing figures considerably.
Their e-mail address is: radio.times@bbc.co.uk

Here's hoping.

Am I the only on who is a little sad to see F1 coverage leaving ITV? Yes, the ad's are very annoying but I found the coverage from Blundell & Brundell to be pretty slick and I don't have fond memories of Murray Walker's innane commentary on the Beeb!

Hopefully the BBC will learn a few production tips and it should be great to have the likes of Eddie Jordan providing insight. As for the music............that Fleetwood Mac track is fantastic and I agree it should be brought back!

You must be joking.

James Allen's irritating voice and stupid analogies, as well as the chronic amount of advertising taking up 25% of the racing, meaning when an interesting bit of racing crops up it's often missed because they've decided to cut to the ads. More than enough to justify the move.
It wasn't all terminally bad, but those reasons alone are more than enough to warrant a move to the beeb.

At least we'll no longer be told that the cornering forces the drivers head experiences is equivalent to having a labrador sat on it or being hit with an albatross etc.

I loved it on the beeb last time, whilst Murray might have been responsible for more than his fair share of gaffes, his passion and charisma more than make up for it. I understand he won't be doing all the races, but the thought of Murray giving it the old 'and it's GO GO GO' at the british GP, shortly after hearing 'The Chain' introducing the day's events, well that'd be just perfect for me ta.

I just loved those commercial breaks - exactly the right length of time to brew up and / or have a pee. The funny thing is that despite being able to remember the annoying music, I just can't for the life of me remember what it was advertising! loser

Dear Auntie Beeb - bring back "The Chain."

I always used to "Sky+" the races and then start watching half an hour so into the race... that way, you just fast forward over the ads"... I am a genius!

How can you say that, it is the perfect piece of music for it. If i remember rightly when ITV took over the coverage they asked for permission to use it as the theme but were told to stick it by the BBC. But even now it is synonymous with F1 as well as Fleetwood Mac. So for me definitely bring back the Chain - Doooo, Da Da dooo da da do da da dooooo

Definitely bring back The Chain. Watching that youtube intro from 1996 brought back so many memories and emotions!

It's the right piece of music for F1 coverage in the same way the Jewelled is for the BBC Rally Report

Trevor Horn produced that track for Propaganda - one of my all time favourites - and yes, it does make the car go faster when you play it smile

Oh please for christ's sake not 'The Chain'!!!!

I don't mind the tune as it stands but it's such a farking cliche!!!

My main reason is going foraward everytime unimaginitive BBC program producers/editors show 'a car' they will play this music in the bacjground! Yuck, makes me want to throw something at the tv.

It's the same for 'Born to be Wild' played everytime someone get's on a bike on the TV.

Can we not get more imaginitive TV executives (who let's face it probably don't drive or ride a bike) who can't use their imagination and get another piece of music for their feature rather than these old, tired, overplayed drivel??????

Why the heck would they NOT use it? It's the best into to any TV programme ever.

Mind you, I like the cricket music too, but I hate watching cricket.
