The wife 335D has had an oil leak since we got it at 27,000 miles. It has been in to the dealer 4 times to be rectified and they have tried replacing various pipes around the turbo and intercooler. It is in at the moment. The leak is coming from underneath the drivers side front, around the bottom of the radiator (I think this is where the intercooler is) it drops down onto the front plate and then runs back and lips off that onto the garage floor. It leaks even after a short warm up and only when the oil is warm. It is about a 50p size mark every time I park up overnight. Has any one had this before?
I am thinking it maybe oil passing from the turbo, down the intercooler air pipe and out, pointing to a turbo issue...but that is just a guess.
Apart from this she is a cracking motor.

Surely the intercooler hose just take cooled air into the turbo...I don't see why there will be oil there... (not that I know much about how an intercooler works)
Not sure about these engines but a lot of my turbo diesels have a breather from the oil system going into the intake air so the hoses can get a bit of oil stuck to the inside of them, shouldn't ever be enough to leak out though.sadlerj said:

I also suggested to the dealer that oil must be bypassing the turbo seals to get into the system in the first place.
They assured me it was quite normal, it looks worse due to air dispersing it over a wider area.
I also made sure they noted my turbo seal concerns on the paperwork. Not sure if the transmission cooler is still in that area, but oil should have a different smell/colour if it is that.

Just checked, the steering cooler is in that area....
