Why is it that people seem to think its a good idea to buy tickets to shows and not go, but instead sell them at over inflated prices??

Looking for some reasonable tickets to take the OH to see bill bailey for an xmas gift and been looking a while, saw that play.com had a new tickets section and thought why not, they seem to be cheap on everything else so they maybe cheap on tickets too....

Always infuriates me seeing all the touts outside of gigs selling on tickets. Some true fan has been unable to get a ticket because you've bought a load to sell on. Feckers

I've bought and sold to touts occasionally, sometimes someone is ill and can't make a gig, sometimes I've not decided to go until its too late to buy and the gig is sold out. Turning up five minutes after the gig has started can often mean a bargain can be had.

The Specials are touring next year, pre-sale tickets sold today before the general tickets sale tomorrow are already on ebay for like £200

You can buy tomorrow for £35ish...

I've bought tickets at face value and sold them for excessive amounts before.

If people want to pay it then who am I to stop them.

Touts used to provide a valuable service for buying or selling tickets on day of show at venue of show.

Ticket agencies used to sell difficult to get tickets at a premium price.

Now with the advent of the internet it has become an industry, albeit underground. The new touts are able to charge whatever they want and unfortunately people pay the prices, therefore adding grist to the mill. People can buy "hot" tickets on day of release knowing full well they have zero intention of using then and they are able to make a killing selling them on.

Glad to have helped.

I agree that the whole touting thing has moved on now in the internet age, and not to the advantage of the genuine fan.

I always perceived touts as providing a service to me if I ballsed up getting a ticket in the first place...never that they had diddled me out a ticket fairly. It was a bit more self regulating because they actually had to be present on the night of the event, and there were fewer people willing to make that sacrifice so fewer people bulk buying for profit.

Shame really...which is why I like that place above.
