Murcielago prices
Discussion
this was a 57 plated roadster with all the options and 2700miles also! so i guess thay have dropped allot as there still seems to be allot of them for sale at 150k ish that are older not as good spec, what would a 56 plate with everything but transparent engine cover be worth with 6k miles,

Still Sounds dear to me..!! And yes there "ALLOT" around at £150 ish..??? They be a it older, but STILL NOT SOLD..!! Wait untill the new year and i am sure you will see 15/20% OFF THAT PRICE..!!;)Well if LP640 Spyders are available for £149k - then coupe's should be available for say £20k less? i.e £129k - I'd have one tomorrow at that price!!.... but there arent any - so I'm a little sceptical - Love to be proven wrong though- so if anyone does know where I can get a "cheap" LP640 (coupe!) let me know!
It's not unknown for cars like the Murciélago to plummet in value in the first 12 months of being sold, often by as much as 40% of purchase price or more. They will tend to stabilise at around the 50-55% of purchase cost mark eventually, cf: a well kept Diablo or Countach. The Lamborghini Miura and the earliest version of the Countach have quite a different set of 'rules' from the 'real' world these days, whatever the idiot press say...
There will always be 'panic' sales at times like these but I'd expect rather less than there are with certain Ferraris or Porsches and even some (but certainly not all) Gallardos but the Murciélago, especially the Roadster is quite a different matter. They aren't (usually) bought by people with too many imminent pending financial disaster issues or even by people who need to sell in exchange for some lesser marque than Lamborghini.
Those that have been bought at an 'all income is actually teetering and perilous' position will be the cars being sold. Obviously, that's just in my increasingly humble opinion and what do I know?

Do LP640s follow this trend, which is usual on other cars? I ask, as I was just wondering whether the market for the coupe and the spyder are so very niche and individual, that the prices are not as correlated as for other makes. The number of people on the market for an LP640 spyder must be very small at any one time but coupes more in demand, then the Spyder price might realistically be lower than coupe.
just a thought..

A DBS with similar mileage should be worth £150k, this is very, very low for the mileage and spec, then again, it is good old DL.

If you have to worry about depreciation, you couldn't really afford it in the first place...and by afford, I don't mean just keeping up with the finance payments.
Do many people finance their cars? I could never enjoy a car as a toy know I owe money on it.Perhaps the people that own the cars in question can't afford them then?

It 'seems' like anyone on a mere £50k/annum now can afford a Supercar with associated running costs. Once the preserve of the rich or independently wealthy they have been opened to the masses by the lure of cheap finance deals - just look at the back of Evo mag for example and the 'low deposit, low monthly payment, Massive balloon payment deals'. Whereas these cars WERE rare and sought after enough to buy one, run it for a year and then sell to clear the finance, so many people have been caught out and are now bvggered with cars having less intrinsic value than the required 'Balloon Payment'. It's classic Negative Equity caused by low finance deals, massive over-production runs and the credit crunch.
I could buy a 430 etc for cash tommorrow, but given the current state of the markets/economy just now I'm going to invest the cash in other ways with a view to clear off the mortgage, then when the dust has settled I'll be looking at something with rear wheel drive and mahoosive horsepower...

That's the way to do it. Totally agree. I got everything sorted before coming out to play too!
I think Lamborghini prices are just not realistc at the moment and this has been fully bourne out by evidence. These cars are not selling. I have been thinking about buying a lambo for a while and have seen no cars shifting at all using pistonheads and autotrader as a guide, talking just of murcielagos, if you look at prices of similar cars that cost the same in 2002/3, e.g AM Vanquish/F575 they are langishing down at £45-60K. I understand rarity will play a part in valuing a murcielgao, but the cheapest ones around are at £80K and frankly not worth it given what else can be had for £80K. My view and it is just my view is that you would need to drop £15K off that price just to get people though the door to look at it and accept that that is where the market is. Golden rule of trading its only worth what someone is wiling to pay!
Anyone looking for a lambo of any sort should just wait and let the market come to them. This credit crunch is only starting and we have a long way to go. As an example i have a colleague who was offered an absolutley mint late split sump Miura SV (i have physically seen that car whilst on holiday in california and it is immaculate) for $1.2m a year ago. he walked away as he felt it just a touch on the high side on price. he was offered this car for $650,000 2 weeks ago!
As someone with cash waiting for the right car, its the best buyers market i have ever been in so when the right car comes up, i will step in and make an offer.
