hi i have a focus st and when the original continentals wore out after about 8000miles i changed them for michelin ps2`s and put them on the back as i have had good experiences with michelin tyres. i put them on the back so i could wear out the conti`s and then eventually have the ps2`s allround.

well the time has come but the michelins are very expensive now (£150 each!!)
i would like to buy them so i can test them for myself but was wondering what other people think of other brands, as a yokohama, pirelli etc are around £40 per tyre cheaper.

i was not impressed with how quickly the conti`s wore out and was told michelins last much longer but at a price, also the conti`s did not seem the best in the wet.

any opinions?

My front Contis lasted around 13,000 miles - I replaced them with Toyo T1Rs, which seemed to come as well-recommended on the ST owners club forum.

Vredestein Sessanta Ultras also seem to be very well-regarded, but they're harder to get hold of.

well i may give them a go, but ive decided to go for the michelin ps2`s on the front also for now, just to give them a test out as they are just about the most expensive you can buy, so would like to see how good they really are and then see what tyres (if any) are better or just as good for less money when i next change them.

goodyear f1 assymetrics will be next on my list, except when i was working at a mercedes garage i remember one customer bringing back an SL500 after having either a set of dunlops or a goodyears fitted and telling of how badly they affected his car compared to the old worn out michelins.

i have a mate with an evo who loves them although says they are not much good in the wet, wet grip is unfortunately one of my biggest concerns in a fwd car, so i will be trying the michelins next week. thanks anyway.
