Anyone else asking only for camera gear this christmas??
Discussion
D700 + 24-70. Chances are slim though
I'd like some equipment so that I can take rig shots of cars, but I don't really have a clue what I need and don't expect anyone else to either (and I gather they are £££), so not likely either.
I do have one of those radio controlled shutter release jobbies on the way from Hong Kong though
And, I don't know, Manfrotto 055 'pods seem to be on offer at Morris Photo at the moment too...

Nice medium format and H-U-G-E digital back.....
.....but then again...
My early Christams present has been to keep my old Manfrotto legs and replace the head, add an L-bracket so I can properly do portrait orientation without it looking like the tripod will tip over(!) and invest in a new lens foot for the bigheavytelezoomphotothingy I get out quite often. Nice piece of kit, a Kirk BH-1 ballhead (which was actually s/h but in excellent nick).
I think, for Christmas, I'll just ask for inspiration to make a few good shots on what I've got now. Haven't really outgrown it yet. Funny how you go in cycles between the kit being behind/ahead of your abilities.

I'm getting half a cat for christmas
I guess it makes a change from turkey.Santa should be bringing me a Spyder 3 Pro. That's all he's getting me until I get a new job, though he's holding an order for a 5D Mk II and a 70-200 f/2.8 L (so long as I still have some redundancy money left by then...)

That's slang for a 500mm (compared to a 1000mm, which would be a full cat) CATadioptric lens, I take it....You can't otherwise have half a cat unless you're Schrodinger.....

No slang afraid, my wife is getting the other half

Hope it's not a case of "Your order may be despatched and delivered separately" otherwise you'll be doing some more brilliant macro photography but based on Damien Hirst's view of half a cat

For me, I need to go and pick up a Murami ring flash from the post office later (can't afford your Canon kit!)
