M62 into E46?

Has anyone done or know if it is easily possible to fit a M62 V8 into a E46?

I think I've seen a V8 M5 engine in an E46.

BMW tuner Hartge used a supercharged M62 later on in their H50 E46 production, so the conversion has been done. It is probably worth speaking to Birds in Uxbridge as they are the UK arm/importer for Hartge products so may be able to help you with your queries.

It'll fit in the E36 so I'm sure it'll fit in the larger engine bay of an E46. PH'der GTwayne has one in his M3:
