Hello all,

Just recently picked up my first Monaro and have to say its a nice big comfy thing compared to my old mkivSupra. Its a black 06 plate CV8 with some sort of optional exhaust you could get when buying one apparently. I dont know much about these cars yet apart from the niggly faults i've read about that i'm finding out about. smile

I'm looking for a little advice too,

The fuel gauge seems to please itself and wont go to the full, pump clicked and clicked today and only shows 3/4 full. Is there a fuse I can pull to reset the dash?

How does the stereo pull out so i can remove a stupid handsfree kit thats been badly fitted?

Any idea why the sunvisor mirror lights wont come on.

Cheers

Mike

Welcome!

I get the fuel thing too - there isn't a great deal you can do about it (though some will have ideas)...

Welcome Mike.
Nice to hear that your car is in the fastest colour, and already fitted with a loud exhaust! At least you won't have to spend money on that upgrade, and you might have had the engine re-map that gives your car the extra gee-gees!
The fuel thing is not a fault of the dash, so you dont need to worry about how to reset that bit, there's a few of us on here that have had that problem. It's the tank not filling properly, the gauge shows 3/4 full because that how full it is! It happened to mine a couple of times, but never when I put in my personal favorite fuel of Tesco's 99 octane. I think that the problem lies with the filler hose, but could be wrong.
Can't help you with the others, but I'm sure that someone will be along to help you shortly.
Don't forget to post the photos of your car, we're all looking forwards to seeing it.

Howdy........i've had the fuel gauge 'thing' a few times myself, but then the next time i fill it up it's okay again - so i'm not quite sure what thats about. Another seemingly common fault is leaky door seals - don't even contemplate taking it through a carwash! laugh

But enjoy it.

Thanks for the replies, So that'll explain why it only took 40 litres today. I'd read about the water in the rear footwells and mine seems to be no different. Found a little in the passenger side rear and water sitting on the door rubber so probably need to check the door weather sheet thing.

Anyways here's a couple of pics.

I could throttle the joker that fitted the hands free kit as the black trim seems to have been superglued back on and i'm scared to ask how much one will be. Toyota used to have your eyes out for bits like these.

Cheers

Hi - nice looking car... twin exhausts though on a CV8...?

Any how - water is def' from the door weather sheet, seems most are badely glued onto the frame, also check the speaker pods as these can also feed inside the car past the weather sheet. As for the stereo out and trim, do a search as plenty of info on here or PM me and I will write chapter and verse for you as had all my interior out a few times now for various reasons.

BTW (everone) is the black trim instead of silver just painted or is it moulded black... just looks alot better than the silver IMHO.

Welcome mate. The 2005 CV8 models all have dual exhausts. Stereo is easy to remove. Just need to unscrew some tiny grub screws and use a DoubleDin puller kit (Cheap enough to buy from your local Halfrauds or any other stereo retailer)

S600 - The black trim is painted (or should I say sprayed) black and not moulded in that colour iirc. That black interior trim is a bugger for showing up scratches and swirls so be careful with how you wipe it. Also pretty expensive to replace as I've found out.

All VZ CV8s have twin exhausts, V2 has the single exhaust and fuel tank under the floor. Alloys are different too.

Not our year mate unless ours have been added. Look at my profile pics. Ours are identical. Thought they were stock on the 50+56 plate CV8's

Might take you up on that, are you thee Monkfish Performance man? I was planning on buying some service bits and pieces from your site soon. Good site BTW.
I managed to find some double DIN pullers today in town so just need to speak to Vauxhall and get the stereo code now before I do anything.
