Can anyone confirm the spec of the run out 4.2 XKR's. Think it is known as the last edition 4.2.

There were a few clearance versions of the old shape XK8/R. The final versions appear to be the S which was a Stratstone's special. Go to www.xkec.co.uk and look at the XK8 history for more info.

The last editions were the 4.2 S.

They had a few changes which included but not limited to: Additional colour choices including 'copper black' and 'satin silver'. 'Smoked' rear light clusters. Different sill plates and badging. Perseus 20' alloy wheels.

Interior wise they had, contrast charcoal stitching in the leather, elm wood veneer. As with regard to specific lux items, these cars had all the usual items found on regular XKR's including the new Bluetooth. Some maybe missing the adaptive cruise, handling pack which were normal extra's to the range anyway.

Quite.

These are referred to as the 4.2-S LE (for Limited Edition) and came as both XK8 and XKR. In the States it is called the Victory Edition. It has a lot of features which had been introduced piecemeal onto the model in the last couple of years of production, including:-

The option of Elm or Ali weave veneers
Quad exhaust pipes
Red Calipers
Perseus Alloys, though some came with the multi spoke composite design
Drilled Alloy pedals and trim pack

They all have 4.2-S badges on the left tail, and a distinctive white 'Chequered Flag' bonnet badge.

Quite a number of desirable options are not necessarily on the car unless they were specced as such. These include:-

Recaro Seats
Adaptive Cruise Control
Sound Upgrade

I have a copy of the very nice little hardback brochure they produced to go with this car, so if you have any specific queries ask away. You might find it easier to check out the Jaguar Approved Used site where you are bound to see a few examples.

Thank you for the replies. Being a numpty ( idiot) i didn't make my post clear and my request is in respect of the current shape 2009 MY car. My understanding is Jaguar have now finished making 4.2 XKR's and all customer orders must spec the 5 Litre engine for delivery April. However they have made a number of 4.2 XKR Last Edition models which are available I think only in Coupe form. There seems to be nothing on the Jaguar site.

Are you talking about the XK60? High spec XK with previously optional bodykit add-ons.

If not how many run out models can Jaguar do?

No its not the XK60 - think this is the non supercharged 4.2? Its called the XKR 4.2 Last Edition (LE). Found it bit more out about it - has a 'dynamics pack which includes new steering rack, lower ride hide and Alcon Brakes and different 20 inch alloys. The cars are Pearl Grey Metallic with Ivory Luxury Interior and contrast stitching. There is a different headling - assume Alacantra or similar? It seems to be a bit of the Portfolio model and a bit of XKR-S. Price is £71k but cannot find out a detailed spec !! Wonder how much they will be discounted too in the New Year???

TBH, I don't think brand new cars of the LE variety will be discounted v much. Maybe after the launch of the new engines. But if Jag are keeping these quite quiet, then you an be sure they won't want to scare off buyers with news of all new more powerful engines later in the year.

If you want one of these, hold out until after the new engines are launched.

Now that is a good point - I have been 'offered' one with an 'enhanced' trade in value on my current xkr of around £4k but what will happen in 2/3 years time when I comwe to sell it? Do I wait for the 5 litre? Decisions decisions !!

IMHO, unfortunately I don't think Jag will be able to charge a premium (read list price!) for the 5.0ltr after the first few months. They will depreciate just as fast as the current 4.2ltr. (Unless they dramatically reduce volumes, which they won't do as they need the cash.) As with any expensive car purchase, the decision to jump in is all dependent on how much you want it.

They may have given you £4k more on the trade-in but they are making money from not discounting the new car. so it's all swings and roundabouts. I would sell you car privately and then go to a dealers with cash and you can then name your price.

Happy shopping.

I now have the spec of the LE car. Most are Pearl or Ultimate Black. Sport Dynamic pack ( incl Alcon Brake upgrade , new steering rack etc etc)),luxury leather with Portfolio contrast stitch . Aluminium trim with Piano black, Vortex wheels ( as XKR-S). You can find some cars with some aditional options to include Ivory Leather , B & W surround sound and keyless entry. Sounds like a lovely spec and under £70k before negotiations start.I think Jaguar have thrown a few £k's of options FOC at this car and the Vortex wheels are lovely and as far as I know not on the options list? Makes a 997 and a Maser GSport look expensive !!

Saw one in Stratstone of Mayfair yesterday. It was pearl with ivory, dynamis pack etc. Vortex wheels looked nice. Up for just under £73k.
