Did this Indonesian rice dish last night. Very yummy indeed (not to mention quick and relatively healthy), and will now almost certainly be a regular menu feature.
For those unfamiliar, it's usually made with chicken, prawns, vegetables and rice in a spicy sauce (not a million miles away from Singapore fried rice), topped with shredded omelette and spring onions.
I used a paste out of a jar for my first go, but will be kncoking up my own in future.

you can buy sambal oelek in chinese supermarkets here mate - thats a long way to go for a sauce!
actually, i think Sainsbury's sell it now in the fine foods section...
Indeed, I bought a 725g jar of Sambal Oelek when I was last in Chinatown for 3 quid or so from memory (I went through the smaller jar too quick, so got the monster jar...)actually, i think Sainsbury's sell it now in the fine foods section...
I have seen it in Sainsbury's or Tesco in their premium range going for silly money.
