Anyone use Occado, or anyone other than Tesco or Sainsburys? Sainsburys went downhill rapidly so we switched to Tesco who are useless beyond contempt. Final straw was on Monday when the van didnt turn up, so I called and asked where it was, only to be told it had broken down several hours ago but it is policy not to phone customers until after the delivery slot has ended - i.e. when its too late for me to go out and do the shopping myself. Checked internet banking just now and found that they had billed me £130 for the delivery anyway and according to tesco, its my banks fault I don't have the money refunded yet..... err, no Tesco, its your fault for taking the money in the first place actually. Surely there must be a company who can deliver what you order and in the timeslot you agreed?

We've never had any problems using either Tesco or Sainsbury's TBH.

Tesco are a bit more rubbish for swapping things out but this could be down to the time of week we order/they get their new stock in.

Ocado is your friend. We use them all the time without a problem. Got them booked for Christmas eve so fingers crossed they stay as reliable.

Ocado
yes used them twice now, very good service, they even text you to let you know the name of your driver etc.
First guy rang us an hour before the delivery to ask if it was ok for him to delivery earlier than our alotted slot because he was ahead of schedule

Sainsbury's are worse... Last time I placed an order (about 3 weeks ago), more than half the things I ordered were unavailable. They substituted 3 of them. Hopeless. This was the first time I'd used them in ages because they always used to do this, but I thought I'd give them another try. Won't be doing that again.

Ocado, on the other hand, are excellent. They always arrive on time (or phone to say they'll be early and ask if it's okay to call round), they rarely run out of stock and their substitutions are logical.

Forgot to say - shopping online with both Tesco and Sainsbury's, there have occasionally been items missing but these have always been credited back to me with no problems. With Ocado, there's never been anything missing but inevitably a couple of things have got broken. They always credit the full value of the item back even if the damage isn't extensive enough to warrant binning the item. (Had the driver point the damage out to me!)

Mrs Chaff and I use Sainsbury regularly and they seem pretty good. On occasion, we've found items haven't been included, but they seem more than happy just to accept your word and refund. I have heard very good things about Ocado, but I guess you do pay that little bit extra.

We had the Ocado chap come last year as he arrived he said:

'I've just been to Roger Moore's house, lovely chap, nothing but Champagne in his order though'

Tesco's will get a lot worse after Christmas, they are moving 20% of their admin and logistics jobs ti India and firing the UK staff, as if they don't make enough profit alreadyfurious

Ocado. Tried Tesco and Sainsbury but they can't even match Ocado for service let alone beat them.

Another for Ocado here, they are just brilliant, polite, efficient and have never let us down - normally ring to see if they can pop round earlier!

When my Mrs had a screaming one-year old in her arms the guy not only brought everything in, but also put things in the Fridge and Freezer for her!

Ocado are easily the best, but we've found Asda (amazingly) to be a close second and while not in the same league quality-wise they are far, far cheaper for basic stuff.

Ocado is the way to go, don't bother with anything else. Contrary to popular belief it's no more expensive than the others either.

They're always on time or phone if they're early, and very rarely cock something up. They do tend to pack a bit stupidly sometimes (bottles on top of bananas springs to mind), but you just go online and get a refund for the item, job done. Definitely recommended.

Sainsburys and Asda are both very good for home delivery.

Another vote for Ocado. They have never let us down, and even once phoned to ask if it was ok to deliver an hour early as they were close. Very impressed.

the other good thing about Ocado is they pick their stock from a warehouse, not like sainsbury/tesco where someone goes around the store picking your food, think that is the main reason why they very rarely have things missing on an order

Cheers folks, just setup up an ocado account and will give them a whirl. Both kids have allergies to milk and ocado seem to stock loads of alpro stuff which is great news,
