Other costs for Spa........

Can anyone fill me in on ferry or channel tunnel costs and hotel costs. And any other cost of track days abroad.


I want to take my dad for his 60th to spa with BAT but I wan to make sure i can afford all the other bits.

NorfolkLine often do good deals on the ferry - last year it was £40 return per car Dover-Dunkerque - http://www.norfolkline.com/ferry/. Hotel - how much do you want to spend - anything from about EUR50 per night per person for BB upwards.

..... also factor in the reality that 1 euro = £1 ........ something we have never had to consider!!!!

biggest cost for me last year was the bar bill - employing 15 alcoholics and offering to pick up the tab for the last nights meal was a bad move I can assure you!!

...... better start saving early for 2009 trips then, just remember 1 euro = £1!!! I've got a thirst on just thinking about it!!

casio in spa increased my costs somewhat! Cheap B&B's to be had around SPa though if you want, food was similar to the UK. As said biggest killer now is the euro rate.. MAkes fuel £1.50 per ltr!!

Judging by the appearance of his staff on day 2, Jonny spent an awful lot of money.

i've used norfolk line plenty of times when racing and trackdaying at spa and seem the cheapest, ie next year most off peak crossings are 32 quid return.

If you're only going to be away for one night you can get a Eurotunnel return for £49.

My usual schedule for the 'ring is this:-

Day 1: 9am crossing, arrive at 'ring c. 3pm (Spa would be 2pm)
Day 2: Lap all day and leave 'ring at 6pm to catch 10.30pm crossing

OK, it makes for a long Day 2 especially after lapping all day, but providing you don't have too long a drive once you get to Folkestone it's a very cost effective and fastest way to cross the channel.
