what offense are speeders charged with?
Discussion
Silly question, but as they haven't caught me yet I honestly don't know the answer. Is speeding itself the offense, or is the offense somehow related to being dangerous (DC/A etc)?
I imagine it's the former, but the latter seems far more reasonable to me.

Peter,
You're a jammy sod. I have been caught - in an Audi A6 not the V8S and the charge is 'exceeding the speed limit'. If you were really tanking on (ie over limit plus 30) I guess you could get charged with dangerous driving / undue care or similar but usually it will be a straightforward exceeding the limit, if your lucky with a fixed penalty plus 3 points - get 12 points and claim your bus pass.....
Are you planning something - risk assessment ?
Cheers,
JSG.

I am curious to know what would happen in the following scenario. You join one of our camera blighted motorways at 3am and proceed to drive at 95mph for the length of the road (traffic permitting)
After the appropriate period a wad of NIP's drop through the door. Do you plead guilty to one and not guilty to all the rest on the grounds that you only broke the law once so can only be prosecuted for one offence.
Any Law Lord's out there want to make a ruling on this?
Cheers

They are taken as separate offences and you would kiss your license goodbye.

Cant see it myself.
Would you be able to commit 10 burglaries, get nicked, plead guilty to one and not guilty to the other 9. They'd throw the book at you for 1 and then try you another 9 times, surely?
Matt.
Just like the bloke who smashed up his neighbour's garden and then pleaded guilty to the one crime and asked for the other six fences to be taken into consideration.

Ok so whats the difference between the following...
A, You drive down a 1 mile stretch of m-way at 95 and get busted by four gatsos
B, You drive down a 1 mile stretch of m-way at 95 and you get followed by a vascar equiped plod and your speed is averaged over 1 mile at 95...
???? its bullsh1t be honest.
A freind of mines mum got 6 in this way. Laser on a bridge with video got her going to the shop and coming back from it..
