Hi, having just replaced the fuel filter and supply pipe on my Merc, I am now unable to start it, it cranks fine, battery is good, replaced glow plugs, is this system self bleed or is there a knack of doing it? I have noticed what appears to be a small plunger on top of the engine that is connected to that pipe but can't understand how it works as it doesn't appear to move, any ideas? Thanks

Well thanks for your help, but we have tried this unsuccessfully, we put a scanner on it , and it delivered various error codes, having cleared these, and replaceing the glow plugs (all found to be defective) , it has now gone off to the main dealer.

Did you replace the o-ring on the filter?

As stated, keep cranking. It takes a long time to expel the air.
