I was told a title of a book about how to stop smoking but I can't remember the name of it. Has anyone been successfully on here by using this method ?

I can't remember the title but the author was Allen Carr.

I made it through about 4 chapters of the book before giving up a 20 year 20 a day habit on the day Allen Carr died of lung cancer.

I'd tried loads of times to give up before but always took it up again after a couple of months.

The book worked for me and I haven't touched a cig for over 2 years now.

HTH and good luck.

Both my wife and I read the book and gave up. This was 5 years ago - never had a craving since, and can smoke cigars once in a blue moon (I think its 2 in those 5 years) without any desire to start again. Best £5 we ever spent. If you don't want to read it, try his seminars. £150 a go, and if you don't give up you can go again for free a few more times, and if you still don't give up, you get your money back.

Utter toss.

Reinforcement, reinforcement, reinforcement.

Works for simpletons, but anyone with a spark of awareness will see through the crudeness.

Good luck, though.

I read a book once about stopping smoking. It was called "Don't stop smoking, as it makes you look hard and cool."

It worked for me.

Speaking as someone it worked for, I resent that statement - I am by no means a simpleton.
It has the highest success rate of any giving up technique. Until his death Alan Carr was always amazed the NHS didn't want to use it as part of their stop smoking clinics.

To be fair, he was flogging this book for personal gain; it isn't as if an impartial observer was 'amazed'.

Glad it worked for you. thumbup

Apologies, no offence intended.

It's a fairly blunt instrument and I was underwhelmed by it.

Glad it worked for you.

No problems. Did it not work for you?

Worked for me for about four months. Most important message in it, is the fact that having a cig just serves to make you want another.
When I did stop for that period, I had last cig in evening and if I didn't have one in the morning, it was true, I didn't seem to need one so much.
