HGF ?

Reading another thread on this has got me paranoid so out I went and checked my car over. Firstly I noticed the coolant levelis down probably a pint or so of water. Secondly I looked in the oil filler cap and there is a very small amount of white residue which I wiped out with my little finger and all seems clean.
Don't know if it's relevant but the car had a track day sump fitted probably a thousand miles ago and warranty work on the cooling system, I'm hoping the coolant level is just topping up after this work has been done. What's your thoughts.

Remember they probably filled the coolant with it all hot. There's a lot of water etc in the system and with it been brass monkeys now that'll account for some if not all of the drop.

If you're losing coolant it's most likely the hoses getting old and leaking. Mine smokes continually even after being warmed up which made me wonder about HG failure but haven't had a chance to have it tested yet.
