Can I get free/cheap education?

I am quite young and I am after a couple of courses in Photoshop/Indesign, will I be able to make my way onto these for free/next to nowt?

If you are in receipt of any state benefits, including Jobseekers Allowance, working tax credit (but not child tax), incapacity benefit, disability living allowance, carers allowance, income support etc... or if you can prove from your previous years earnings that you were below the threshold of minimum wage (not easy to do) then you are entitled to whats called a fee waiver, as long as you study on a part time basis.

Part time study means that you must be studying for under 16 hours per week. If you can satisfy all of this criteria then you should be able to study absolutely anything and it will not cost.

This applies in Scotland, not 100% about England but I would imagine that its the same.

If you are earning money then PAY UP like the rest of us. you may be able to pay your course by installments.

We would rather not have the money leaving our pockets and get a return on the huge tax payments.

What's the deal with "students" anyway, they get their university fees subsidised.

Don't these courses count as something like that?

There are tonnes of excellent (and free) tutorials for PhotoShop, HTML etc. available online - and most will be far better than what some old codger will teach you at college.
