What if a cabby has insufficient change to offer you?

Rather than highjack the other cabby thread I thought I would ask this.

If you only had a 20 and the cabby didn't have enough change what would you do?

A) Give him the rest as a tip
B) Ask for as much change as he has (and watch the amount plummet to £0.02)
C) Refuse to pay him?

Also what is the legal situation here?

Only happened to me once, came to about 6 quid and he didnt have change for a tenner(!) So I gave him all 3.50 of my change instead and he was happy enough.

Mr Cabby should have pre-planned and when he knew he was running low then popped into a shop and changed a note or 2 ...?

THen I would set up a business not requiring a shop as such. Maybe a txi for example. Then I would work for a short while until I had accumulated the correct fare for the taxi driver.

I had a similar situation once. Had a takeaway delivered, only had a £20 to pay with, delivery bloke didn't have any change! It was right at the beginning of the evening too - Quite what they were thinking I don't know. Fortunately I do a lot of business with said takeaway so he just said to pay them for the food next time I was passing!
