Lewis misses out again

What is it with the BBC Sports Personality of the Year? Last year Lewis comes third to a guy I'd never heard of (okay I'm not a big boxing fan but even Frank Bruno impinged on my consciousness) This year second to someone I vaguely remember on a bike winning stuff - like others in the GB team at the Olympics.

One of the contenders this year has become an international megastar that an eskimo would have heard of - the others the average Joe (i.e. me) would struggle to place. How could he not win????????

Maybe next year with F1 on the Beeb he might do better -or am I being cynical?

HOw can you not know Hoy!! He has been making sauces for Years!!!

Last years winner Joe Calazaghe has been a boxing champion for more than 10 years, he is also unbeaten in all his professional fights, even my nan knows who he is.

Anyone care to point out what the criteria for winning sports personality of the year actually are?

Being involved in sports I can see, but personality seems to have nothing to do with it. So what's it for, greatest sporting achievement of the year? Biggest unexpected victory? Brightest ginger sportsman of the year?

Lewis has done something no-one in his sport has ever done. Chris Hoy won 3 medals (I think). To return to my litmus test - do you really think anyone outside of the UK would remember who Chris Hoy is now if they weren't a major cycling fan?

Because the olympics only come round once every 4 years and we had our best olympics in a LONG time with Hoy the man at the front. Hamilton will win it at some point.

Last year I think it was more deserved by the boxer who so convincingly defended his incredible unbeaten streak of 40 something fights, against an excellent boxer in Joe Kessler, than it was by a driver who threw away a world title.

Chris Hoy did deserve it this year.

Wait until LH either dominates for the whole season or wins more than 1 title.

Being the youngest winner isnt in itself a reason to win by default. He has been groomed more than any other driver before IMO.
