A South Shields woman has been told by a Council Officer to remove her Christmas lights from outside her house because they offend her Bengali neighbours.
She puts them up every year and has done for as long as she can remember - trouble is it's only the Council Officer who thinks that - no complaints at all from the Bengali population - how much damage can one idiot PC Local Government Officer do!

I'm not stirring anything up - quite the contrary.I'm pointing out that some idiot council official took it upon himself to decide the lights WOULD offend Bengalis and could easily have caused quite a row and backlash by his stupid PC assumptions.

I'm assuming Tampon and Gargamel have English as their first language and should be able to follow what I'm saying.

A council official decided, without any complaints or other evidence, that they would offend her Bengali neighbours.
Such idiotic behaviour by an overly enthustistic PC official could have caused all sorts of problems if all of the neighbours hadn't been on good terms.
I'm not stirring anything up but trying, without success it seems, to point out how thoughtless comments and unnecessary PC intervention can actually CREATE racial tension where none exists.

That is the way it is meant to be. If people merely moan to their friends, PH and all, rather than bother to take official channels, it encourages these fifteen-minutes-of-fame feckwits all the more.

However, drawing attention to this story is a good thing - it means that other overzealous council officers will be hounded out (which is a good thing).
