Just seen a shocking story on The One Show, this guy who was diabetic fell into a diabetic coma on a bus, the bus reached the depot and the driver found him. Rather than try to help him he phoned the police who, when they turned up, tried to wake him up but as they couldn't get a response from him, they tasered him and arrested him under the Terrorism act! The police in this country are a joke!

Oh and appologies for posting something from The One Show.

Just seen it, OK, i have no idea why they tasered a bloke in a coma, thats the complete opposite of what they were intended for, but i can't see why he's on the ban taser side when he had no idea if even happened, and just has the officer's word that it happened.

I don't get it! Did the officer used to hit people with his truncheon to see if they were awake? Perhaps He shouldn't get a real gun, eh..

It's a common tactic for terrorists to sit on empty buses and pretend to be asleep, didn't you know? I wonder if that officer will be going to jail, where he belongs. Somehow I doubt it.

I didn't see the programme, but I'd have to see factual evidence (ie. NOT from a journalist) that a man in a coma (which means sitting completely unconscious and no threat to anyone) was Tasered.

Nope, you didn't see the programme; that bloke wouldn't have been a threat to anyone even if he'd been wide awake with a wasp up his arse!

a guy in York, who was diabetic and hypoglycaemic, stopped at some traffic lights in the city centre confused and kind of collapsed over the wheel. Obviusly when the police showed up he didn't respond to his instructions so they pulled him out of the car, pushed his face into the road and handcuffed him! He was arrested and it took some time to get medical attention.

IF this is true..... it menas a mistake was made, it doesn't mean tasers are a bad idea

People get hit by battons by mistake, shall we take them off police too?

I saw the story and although I was aghast that the police Taser-ed him, I couldn't see why he thought that because of this incident Tasers were a bad thing???

If there really is no after effect, it was better they Taser-ed him than shot him or even whacked him with the baton. The story was shirley about the Police dealing with him in a mindless way, not the Taser.confused

The guy himself was on there with a letter of appology from the IPCC. The part of this I find hard to believe is that he was arrested under the terrorism act, they just seem to use that as a way of arresting someone without a proper reason.

It is pretty difficult to hit a sleeping person, on a bus, with a batton, by accident tongue out

The act of tasering an unconsious bus passenger was not 'an accident' unless he didn't mean to pull the trigger.

I would agree it is a big mistake though, and he should be fired at the very least for gross misconduct. Just because it was a mistake does not mean he did not commit a crime.

I have a feeling that having been Tasered whilst unconscious, he might have quite strong views on the Police being issued with them.

Yep, I don't have a problem with tasers, they do a good job, it's just the fact they'd be in the hands of people who, when faced with an unconcious man, think it's better to zap him with a taser rather than try to help him. Even if he was drunk and asleep that's still not that way it should be done.

Yup, in the same way that parents of murdered children tend to have strong feelings about child killers..

The parents remember their children though, this bloke didn't even know he was tasered.
I might as well tell you that you were tasered last weekend, but you don't remember it.

How about date rape? Perfectly fine if you drug the victim sufficiently ?
