How do i work out how much the dollar is to the pound?

Whatever organisation you are planning on using to carry out the transaction will have its own 'version' of the exchange rate, e.g. your bank, PayPal etc.

surely it MUST have taken longer, and more effort to log onto ph and find this answer, rather than just typing into google on your home page?

Bear in mind the rate given on currency converters is usually the interbank rate and will not be the rate you would actually get if you changed the money at a bureau de change for example (which would use the tourist rate).

Just getting a present for someone and we're putting in for it so wanted to tell them how much each. Whats the big deal about wednesday? (i am fairly thick lol)

"143 US dollars in pounds"

It'll work it out for you, based on the current exchange rate. Google also will convert pretty much anything to pretty much anything else.

How are you paying for it - I find Amex gives me a better rate then my Bank Account?
