Anyone interested in Carbon front splitter

I have found a company that can supply some material to make some front splitters

however i need to order quite a bit of it to make it cost effective

The plan is to make a flat splitter like the one that Reverie make(£379), but rather than real carbon fibre - it is carbon effect ABS

the splitter will be a one piece and can be fitted to give you a protusion that you want, short for the road and longer for the track

the material is 4mm thick so the splitter will sit higher than the standard noble one and should flex rather than break

because the material is expensive i'm guessing that they will come out about 130 quid

any takers ?

this stuff is quite professional, already used in the car industry for dash's and moulded panels etc

I have a three piece one finalised as well now, but due to the high material cost I wont be selling them. I would say this offer is very good value.

He tested it in a wind tunnel, parked it in the Hatfield tunnel and blew on it

a front splitter will improve front downforce, as shown in the racecar engineeing article. You will be able to choose how far out it protrudes

its not for show, however the carbon effect will make it look more appealing

it could be done in black at a slightly cheaper cost

One of the reasons that the one in the wind tunnel worked well was because the front undertray and spitter were completely flat. Acheiving this on a road car means that the front clam has to be mounted differently.

Your solution will not be the same as the one tested in the wind tunnel uless owners make some radical clam fixing mods i.e. like it won't pivit open.

I asked the question because I simply don't know how much effect your splitter design will have (it may work very well for all I know).

yes I understand what you are saying - the splitter could be up to 1.25 metres deep, however i'm not sure the clam will open !

i will try and get it as deep as possible to enable the clam to be opened - will get some dimensions up when i've got it built

Then it won't cover up the holes, so won't have the effect you're looking for. Basically it's mess around with the clam opening method and seal the bottom properly or nothing really (apart from visual effect).

If you're loking for aero efficiency buy the Reverie one, it has been proven in a wind tunnel, top aerodynamicists have been involved and the results published, however if you are looking for a splitter thingy that fromm 100 feet away looks the same then buy something else.

You could try Halfords or Essex Racing or any of the chav fake carbon places.

it lifts off, it isnt possible to get s proper flat sealed undertray and have a hinged clam, its not an inconvenience though, you only open it to fill the washer bottle and if you break down.

there isnt really a good compremise on this one.

Appreciate that this post is a bit old but I am looking for a new front splitter (preferably one with better ground clearnace than the original!)....any update?

Go for the 1/4 splitters if you want better ground clearance.

For the avoidance of doubt, the standard splitter and any other one for that matter, without other major mods does nothing. Actually that's not completely true. They reduce the ground clearance.
