I've posted before about the new road layout at Dunhill, south of Edinburgh on the A68, where they installed Gatsos at the start and finish of the long straight, with overtaking lanes, just where you need to pull in after passing the row of numpties/caravans/lorries etc. I've been almost rear-ended on more than one occasion as drivers pull in violently as they see the camera.

Well folks, they have gone. Removed, exumed, expunged, they are no more. It looks official as the poles seem to have been 'terminated' sensibly. Not sure what prompted this rush of common sense, but perhaps its the start of something good (unless Mcdeltaf got to them and they just haven't been replaced yet). This great piece of open road has cameras all along its Scottish section, from Carter Bar, in all the best/safest overtaking spots. The sooner the rest of them go, the better.

It gets better. Here in Fife there are no fixed cameras, we are a Gatso free zone. Just a handful of mobile units with well publicised locations. And some great back roads that are mostly deserted. Even the sun is shining today and all is well with the world (well, mine anyway)
