passat a/c - on & off on its own?? anyone??

Hello,
'01 passat 1.8t, a/c relay keeps clicking on & off, any ideas what it could be??

its driving me nuts!!

only happens when in heat mode, goes off then comes bacdk on with no fan. then fan kicks in randomly???


any help appreciated.
