Evening all,
Another request for help please. I am looking at S1's, and wonder if there are any commonly held views about colours. I asked a question last week about Chrome Orange because personally I like it, but that does lead to a more general question. I appreciate that with an 8 - 10 year old car, colour should probably be near the bottom of the list of priorities, but are any colours generally unpopular? I don't want to buy a car that might be difficult come resale, but as long as it is not a really big deal would prefer my search not to be restricted to Silver and Azure cars !
Thanks

I would prefer a bright colour, I guess many people may play it safe when initially buying. I did, bought an Azure Blue which I don't regret as it's a great colour, in hindsight I would have been happy with something more in your face though.

I really wouldn't worry about colour - they all polish up nicely.
Or at least that is the point....you don't want to walk on by great, reliable and cared for cars, just to end up buying a 'great' colour....and the fibreglass is damaged, or the engine is crap.
Curiously, I find some Lotus owners a tad negative towards Lotus Racing Green, yet all I have found is praise for the colour....some lady even said it was the main reason she offered me her virginity.
Another lass once came up to me and said ' are you the bloke who has a Lotus? Just tell me it ain't a yellow one, and I'll let you take me out in it'.
She did have a face like the inside of a camel's arse, though.

I've always loved BRG with cream leather. Think that was the colour of the launch car as well. No idea why it would be un-popular but its true that there aren't many about. I'm guessing that titanium was the most popular colour.Or at least that is the point....you don't want to walk on by great, reliable and cared for cars, just to end up buying a 'great' colour....and the fibreglass is damaged, or the engine is crap.

I personally really like the bright colours like orange and yellow on a s1 elise, however I also find the Elise gets enough attention already without being in a really stand out colour. Most people who I work with think I’m a flash idiot to have sports car in the current credit crunch situation, I think this would be even worse if I had a really bright coloured one that stood out even more.
Mines nautilus blue by the way which in my opinion looks quite nice in real life although does not photo well to show the colour.

New Aluminium (Silver) was the most popular colour on S1s by some margin. Azure Blue was popular too (Back when the Elise was launched I had a love afair with Azure Blue and still love the colour today despite never having a car in one... it's just a shame most of the AB cars in NZ haven't been that well looked after and are seldom shiny). My favourite colour is Titanium and after my first Elise (New Aluminium), I was determined to get my second S1 in Titanium... pictures of both below:
