cambelt change and funny noise
Discussion
The cambelt is due on my just aquired 156 V6 in the new year, is it worth changing the water pump at the same time?
Anybody know of a specialist in Bristol?
It also just went straight through its MOT, but there is a very noticeable knocking front the front suspension, any ideas where to start? Mot guy said there was nothing obvious from underneath.
cheers all

I think the 2.5 V6 had the waterpump with the plastic components, therefore a water pump changed to the revised metal one would be a very wise choice.
I have been using Duncan from AlfaNet for a good few years now, genuinely keen prices and knows the cars inside out (he used to be the Dealer Expert Technician for Alfa).
Give him a call on 07968488942

Sounds like the anitroll bar needs replacing. Big job I'm afraid. Replacement bushes are now availible which means you don't need to replace the entire anti roll bar.Anybody know of a specialist in Bristol?

As has been said previously, change the water pump for the metal impellor type out of a 3.0 GTV as well as the tensioner and both idler pullies.
Had the cambelt done on me 156 v6. Deffo get the metal impellor water pump (from the GTV 3.0 V6) same price and most places will supply the metal impellor one even if you ask for the 2.5 water pump. Think it cost about £67. Also don't be alarmed with a slight whirring noise (similer to an over tight cambelt) when done, they settle down after a few hundred miles. Also consider a BCA carbon air intake. Must admit a slight drop in power (its a bugger to fit, don't know if i did it right) but they sound glorious!!
Ps mine made a squeek when the upper arms needed doing so it it's possible the ARB drop links need doing to cure the knock.
