€ bank accounts
Discussion
I never really got the answer I was looking for on my request either, so I'd be interested in this
I am interested as well. My savings are with HSBC and to convert to an offshore multi currency account with them is £20 per month. Not sure what to go with, the €/$ are no doubt a better bet than £ but have been looking at going with Gold http://www.bullionvault.com/ as it looks the safest bet for the time being?.

I have Euro (and Dollar) accounts with Barclays and HSBC. Very easy to set up. The only real difference is that Barclays is really just UK based where as HSBC is global. Depends where you need your money I guess. The interest rates are lower than sterling.
On the mainland a EUR savings account with a quality name will get you 4.5% on demand or 5% for a year fixed. High rates are more to do with liquidity / need for funding than ECB rates and Euribor market levels of course. There has probably never been a better time to be cash rich and in Euros than right now.
