tag heuer Grand Carrera calibre 8 rs opinions
Discussion
Think of buying a new watch in the next couple of weeks, and would like some opinions from the PH massive
I was originally looking at the Monaco automatic and the chronograph, tried both on together and to be honest was quite underwelmed, so the wife an I went to another jewellers, and I spotted the Grand Carrera, tried it on, and it instantly put a smile on my face
going to have a look around for a few others, but am feeling drawn to this one

just wondering if anyone on here has got one, and what they think of it?

MattNice watch that. You've plenty of choice for your budget, and you could spend ages looking around. Or, if you like it and you're set on it, you could just make sure that you're buying as well as possible. For that I would recommend having a chat with Dominic_H. He sorted me out very nicely, as well as plenty of others here, and comes highly recommended.

hi Stuart, I'm planning to have a good look around and see if anything else catches my eye, certainly don't want to be spending that sort of money on something I don't like
Cheers for the advice on talking to Dominic, might give him a shout
Matt,
You'll find plenty of opinion here, but ultimately you need to wear it.
What sort of watch do you want, and what will you use it for? Will it be a daily wearer, or special occasions only? Will you wear it mostly with a suit, or more casually? Any particular preference on functions (date, chronograph, etc).
The Carrera Calibre models are at the upper end of the price range for Tag, and many watch enthusiasts are less impressed with the brand since it became Tag Heuer (rather than just Heuer as it was). There's no doubt that for the RRP of this watch you could buy into brands which are perceived as being better (better movements, stronger brand names) than Tag. For £2.5k-£3k you have plenty of choice in the new market, and even more if you're prepared to look at used.
Maybe have a look at www.watches.co.uk or www.watchfinder.co.uk for inspiration, but if you stick with the Tag then you've certainly still chosen a good looking watch...

There is a long story into why I want a watch, which I don't really want to get into, I just want it as a reminder of someone I have lost. You'll find plenty of opinion here, but ultimately you need to wear it.

The watch will mostly be a 'special' occasion watch, to be worn with smart/smart casual clothes.
Not too keen on full chronograph wathes (which I think is one of the reasons the Monaco Chrono underwhelmed me) as the look too bulky on me, So really date is the only thing I want on it, other than hands to tell the time

Not overly keen on Rolex, a bit too bling for me, also needs to be from a fairly mainstream jewellers, as I am getting a fairly hefty discount

Matt has quite thin wrists, so anything big and chunky looks pathetic on him. He keeps asking my opinion but I am so crap at watches, they all look the same to me
one of these is deffo out of the question

I bought an Omega Speedmaster Pro to remember a close relative with some money that I was left. A chrono, and without date, but elegant, classic and not as big as something like the Carrera or a planet ocean.
Thought about an Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra? Plenty of colour choice, date etc. Look great with a leather or steel strap.

A Speedmaster Pro (Moon watch) is a great choice. I got one from Goldsmiths last w/e with 20% off, which nets down to just over £1,500 for a great piece.Thought about an Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra? Plenty of colour choice, date etc. Look great with a leather or steel strap.
