can anyone recommend a connector there are a few about but always good to know it fits before buying?
The HSV's and Monaros factory headunits don't have the ability to have an Ipod attached (no AUX input). You can however use one of those FM transmitter thingys and tune the radio to it, also I believe some guy has come up with a way of modifying the unit to add an Aux in - have a look at the OZ LS1 forums, audio section.

I used an Alpine unit in mine. Functionally pretty good, but have th eusual problme with these FM transmitter things (this is hardwired rather than wireless) in that another station usually distortes the signal and you need to switch channels.
Looking for a convenient way of disconnecting the external radio antenna when using the Alpine thing....

Mr. B has a hardwired FM modulator in his car. It's wired inline to the aerial cable and has a headphone style cable to connect an Ipod or similar.

Takes a bit of reading, but those boys over on LS1GTO got it sorted:- www.ls1gto.com/forums/showthread.php?t=182271 If you can read a diagram and solder a bit, it's not too tricky.
I used the transmitter option, they're a bit 'pants' though TBH, suffer from interference quite a lot, it was just quick and easy. Had a Dension kit in my MINI which was excellant, even displayed the track names, no go for the Ro though, I even asked Dension in Aus to see if they could help.

I hard-wired an ipod/mp3 input into the standard head unit using these instructions. Works fine.

Interesting, how did you route the aux in cable from the back of the radio and where did you put your mp3 player?
