Should I have stopped?

Today coming off the A1 to enter the M18 westbound slip road. A smart fourfour shunted a Volvo XC90 waiting at the roundabout, I was the car behind the four four and saw all (A clear error by the smart driver, too busy looking for a gap to join the roundabout).

I chucked my hazards on until both cars pulled off to the side, and both drivers got out with paperwork in hand. Seeing this I continued with my journey home (As both parties seemed ok).

Should I have stopped and given my details as a eye witness?

Not legal duty, but possibly morally, when........Smart says the "the big 4x4 rolled backwards into me"!

I would have stopped, yeah. You never know what the Smart driver may say after the fact.

Yes, you should have stopped.

A stupid bint reversed into me a couple of months ago and then tried to claim that I drove into her. Luckily I had a camera with me at the time and took photos of the cars in situ, but it was the lovely man who agreed to be a witness that meant the cow didn't get to claim on my insurance.

I though as much... my bad then. I was in two minds, it'd been a very long day and the 200 mile journey had worn me down, but then I'd like someone to stop if heaven forbid I had a accident. I suppose I live and learn.
