Couple of Newbie Questions

OK had the car since the weekend (T350T) and have a few questions
1) I leave the car parked at work and when I start off (reverse out of space and then turn onto road) i get a knocking from the front of the car, almost like the wheels are rubbing on the arches. Thing is it does not happen in the morning manouvering in a similar way out of the garage and up the drive. Both manouvers involve almost identical use of lock forward and back. Any ideas?
2) Oil temperature (I know it has been done but not found an answer) in traffic the temp rises nicely but cools back down to low temps on the move. I have read about the sensor position causing this. My question is, once I have seen a given temp can I assume that the oil is at that temo for the rest of the journey? in other words once I see 60 on the oil temp can I now use up to 6000 RPM regardless of what the gauge reads? I got blown away by a Honda Jaz at the lights this morning :0
3) Doors do not open if you press the button (you have to pull on the window a little to get it open. Is there an easy fix for this?
4) battery volts, is 12.5-13.5 about right?

I get the knocking on lock when I back out of my driveway which is on a very slight slope - is this the case with you?
Oil temp - some people have put a bit of pipe lagging round the sensor (something I'll be trying myself when I get my car back) which seems to help. I'm of a similar opinion to you in that once I've seen 70 or more in traffic or through town I assume it's reasonably safe. Though in this weather I do refrain from full foot down action.
Battery voltage sounds spot on - depends on how much throttle, if you have lights on, fans, air con etc. but sounds good according how mine is.

2- Oil temp I go by once 60 is hot its fine, oil doesnt get cooler.

1) The Banging sounds like the top chain to me if its the bottom one it could mean the engine out job but rarely is. It might be best to check with a garage. i had a problem with full lock it could be a few problems really so best getting it looked at.
2)Oil Temp's are always like this they are not the best sensors in the world and when u pick up speed in these cold conditions cool air drifts over them giving false results. a good 10-15min warm up should be safe but don't forget them all togther.
3) Door sticking. Maybe take a look see if its something a little bit of tickering can't fix. The chrome panel has screws in if you what to look inside further. check Sag guide for help.

Where the join in the door rubber is, pull apart and push some 8mm fuel hose, aquarium stuff or similar into the O of the rubber.Thanks all.
Trial and error but should push them doors open

Door rubbers could be worn and flat replace with new ones got mine from scrap yard, ford focus much thicker the door now "pops" open only £4.00 for a pair just cut to size http://pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f...

1) I experience this on the Sagaris, it sounds (and feels) like a clunking on full lock in one direction. I only get this at full lock when normally reversing or driving out of a parking space, don`t think its any problems as I`ve had other cars do it too..
2) When the oil temperature reaches >60c you can be sure that its good to drive well (given no faults on the sensor). Once u get moving the air will drop the temp down but internally the oil will stay at the correct temperature - you may lose a couple of degree's as the oil tank as a whole is cooled by motorway driving but nothing to worry about (given the ~3000rpm of your engine @ 70mph will keep the oil warm
)3) The rubber seals have relaxed, you`ll need to put some plastic (flexable) piping inside the rubber seals to give it some outward force.. doesn`t take much to fix it, just look around the edge til you see where the rubber is 'flatten' (or flatter) against the door frame.
