GT4 anyone still play it?

I bought an old PS2 the other day and have been really getting in to GT4, it's a bit painful trudging through the licenses but working through them slowly!

Anyone else still play it?

Yes I had a few laps of Le Mans and the 'ring the other day. Haven't played it for ages and had forgotton how good it was

Play it all the time, live on the ring, use it for a benchmark time when i get a new motor...

Only today I challenged gizmo to get a 2CV round the Nurburgring faster than me.

And he did, the twunt.

How do you go a minute slower in a 2cv?

Incredibly easily if you miss a gear.

It's the 1954 2CV, with twelve mighty horses under the bonnet. It is not forgiving of errors.

Have my bro's PS2 on permanent loan at the mo. Not a gamer by any means, but I find it utterly impossible to control the cars using the PS2 controller. Is there a knack to it? I'm either off at every corner or stopping and crawling round

It's very sensitive compared to previous games. No idea why. I think the last 20% of each side (full lock left and right) is ignored.

Just spent half an hour on it. Utter frustration. MX-5 is about the only car I can drive - RX-8 was OK, but MSX and M5 were comical!

I find it very difficult to judge how early I need to brake for a corner.

I have the same issue, not sure if I am an incredibly bad gamer or the controls are wonky as I really struggle with the license tests!

Had a quick go on this the other day, had a strange urge to go for a blast in a Griffith.

I think the controls take a bit of getting used to, I've been playing them since the first version so not really noticed many changes throughout the different versions.

GT4 is still an awesome game. funny how people hated it compared to GT3

Controller here, use the right joystick for throttle/brake instead of the buttons though.

was just playing it a second ago, and have to say i find the controls really fiddly due to the minute tolerances on the ps2 controller its way too easy to go full throttle everywhere. anyone else find it alot easier playing forza 2 with the triggers?

Triggers are much easier, don't know why they didn't make the triggers on the ps3 better.

Yeah I'm still playing it while I'm waiting for PD to convince me to buy a PS3 by releasing GT5. Redid the Alpine challenge the other day, it reminded me how awful the AI is! I still love just picking some or other old / interesting car out of the garage though and just taking it for a hoon around any random track. I use a wheel, I much prefer it to the controller.

Controller here, use the right joystick for throttle/brake instead of the buttons though.

I've found that the best throttle/brake controls are actually the L1/R1 or L2/R2 buttons on the front edge of the controller. Like the other buttons these are analogue and you can get quite find control with your two index fingers and, importantly give a dab of brake with one finger without coming off the gas with the other which works well with the games physics engine.
