Hmm, lending is being encouraged again, interst rates are going to be at the loweest - ever - cars are worth nothing.. anyone see a new trend of people getting into an even worse debt siutation because of 'opportunities?'

I think we're going to see some real inflation in prices next year. Factories around the world have basically be switched off or turned right down. I can't see demad falling to the extent that we're being scared into at the moment. It'll pick up and then we'll be back to paying high prices for st we wouldn't buy this year. Sure there are some people being affected by this downturn but I know more people who are just carrying on as before and are no worse off. They'll still want their tele's and cars next year and the year after.

Was working at Bruntingthorpe today and watched the helicopter fly over - I did wonder whether they were filming something relating to the "credit crunch". Never seen so many BMW's in one place - masses of 3 series and X5's.

Crunch is Jan & Feb as they said. Unemployment will rocket if things dont pick up a littleby then. Sadly i dont think things will have changed much by then. I guess the speed of the slow down that has caught so many out.

[shamelessplug]Must've been bloody hard for our very own Redvictor to get up to speed there a few months ago whilst weaving in and out of all those BMWs (wonder if their indicators worked?). 228mph in 19 seconds on 1/2 throttle? Bloody impressive which ever way you look at it!

I was there the other week and there were what must have been at least 1000 GM cars- mostly Saabs and Vauxhalls with the odd Chevrolet Matiz. They were all 57/08/58 plate, presumably handed back from unaffordable leases. Some had Network Q labels in them, and there were so many some were evn parked under the aircraft in the museum section. I saw the BMWs, but they were parked over the far side of the main straight and looked fewer in number.

There were also a few cars with "repo" stickers in the window- two black RR Sports with big wheels/other additions, a new Mustang, a Continental GTC and a 6 Series.

The first car I bought was a Lancia Volumex (Beta coupe bodyshell with a rare super-charged engine) back in 1988. Being young and naive, I didn't think it would be rotten as it was on a 'C' 1985 plate. I was cleaning the door surrounds one day, and accidently put my hand through the rot in the underside of the door! Both doors were rotten.

I reckon that body shell had probably been built in 1980 or before, and left standing outside until sold and registered.
