I was talking to a mate this evening about one or two stupid things I've done. For example, a while ago, on one particular morning, I drove the five miles to my kids' school to drop them off. I arrived at the school and said "have a great day kids" but there was no reply. I turned round and there was no one in the car. I then remembered it was the school holidays. I'd been on auto-pilot on my way to the office!

Also, some time ago I went to see a client who had emailed me a map of where his company was and it looked dead easy (a few yards from a particular motorway junction). When I arrived at the destination it didn't seem to make sense. As such, I called the client and he was as bemused as me. It turns out I was on the M40 and should have been on the M1 - I was about 150 miles from where I should have been.

I'm sure a few people can trump the above, and it's good to laugh at people who have been as dumb as yourself!

I was thoroughly traumatised to find I was standing in a petrol station queue recently wearing my slippers! yikes

My sister lives in Birmingham. One night I was heading over to her place and was confident in the fact I knew exactly where I was going and where her house was. I did, it was her old house though and she had`nt lived there for over a year.

They are becoming frighteningly more frequent Steve. It must be something they put in the water around here mate.

The worst thing is that I still think (and sometimes act like) I am in my 20's, but as soon as I try to run, I know I am close to 50. All the same effort goes in, but the floor goes by slower.

On the way to a Mensa test and got off at the wrong tube station. Convinced myself that it was the right station. Not a good start.

Yep, rebuilt a clients server at home taking hours then went out to visit another client. Came home, switched on the fixed server then put the recovery disks in and rebuilt it all over again.. it wasn't until I saw my coffee cup next to it tha I twigged that I had already rebuilt it earlier on confused

The very next day I did something far worse, I bought a new drive for my media server, slid it into the caddy, opened the Disk Manager, and then whilst talking on the phone, deleted the wrong raid partition, wiping 1TB of films in a single action boxedincry

A few years ago I woke up and the first thought to enter my mind was, "I have forgotten my PIN number".

I went to the hole in the wall later in the day and sure enough, nothing. Not even a clue - despite the fact that I have used the same number for 15 years at least once a week. I requested a reminder of my number which duly arrived and it was like looking at it for the first time, it didn't even ring a bell.

Strange.

Nothing like it has ever happened since and I am generally known for having a, shall we say, retentive, memory.

I do this too. My wife thinks it's amusing and not at all sinister.

Little does she know.

See - that's the difference between you and me. I'd remember the tickets but would forget the kids!

I went to a local indoor car boot sale two weeks ago......

At one stall I bought a can of alloy wheel cleaner for £1, and then wandered over to another stall to purchase a large magnifying glass for £2.99.....

Whilst I was inspecting the magnifying glass I put the wheel cleaner down next to a £30 pendulum wall clock about 2 foot long...

After some friendly chat with the stall holder, I bought the glass, and went on my way, looking at several nearby stalls at other stuff for ten minutes.....

There was a tap on my shoulder....It was the stallholder...."Excuse me, you've got my clock in your hand"...

"Eh??" I said, looked down and there it was, I had picked it up and didn't even realise I had it in my hand, so we both marched back to his stall and there was my wheel cleaner......

I could not aplogise enough, but I doubt he believed me, even though I had £300 in my pocket.....

I counted myself very fortunate, as he could have rung the Police, and I could have ended up with a criminal record....yikes

I still don't know why I did it, I must have been daydreaming............scratchchin

I went one further. When paying for my lunch at South Mimms services, I not only forgot my PIN, but I proceeded to enter it three times incorrectly. Of course, I recalled it perfectly after the event.

That was a right pain in the arse to sort out.
