Photocopied or 'standard' letters in Xmas cards

I'm really not interested in what exams are being studied for by the kids of people I don't see from year to year.
I would never presume that anyone else would be interested in where we went on holiday this year. If they did, they'd phone and arrange to go for a beer.
I just don't get it. Is it an ego thing? Are these people completely self involved or do they actually think I might give two hoots?

We have some old family friends that send out the 'standard' letter - to be honest I dont mind that at all.
HOWEVER... what does get on my tits is 'send to all' xmas txt "Hope U R Avin A G8 Xmas"
Usually followed a week later by the same berk and his mrs sending a 'joint' "Happy New Yr" txt

It's so hard to keep up to date with what everybody is up to it's nice to receive a small precis at Christmas. Certainly better than a card on its own.
You have two options:
1) They are your friends so you're interested and care about them so stop complaining.
2) You don't give a st about them; write a letter, tell them they're losers and ask them to stop sending you cards.
It's nice that you have nothing else to worry you in life, however.

Funnily enough, we got one of these this morning. It said:
XXXXX has done brilliantly in 'some' of their GCSE's - the actual numbers were sadly lacking!
We've rewired the house - hmm, interesting!
YYYYY has got engaged to a future trillionaire - time will tell!
We had a wonderful day meeting the mayor - wow, you met the mayor!
Don't know what else it says because I can't be arsed to fish it out of the bin.

We`ve fitted a new socket in the second bedroom.

Would it have stayed out of the bin if they had got straight A's, married a current trillionarire and met the president?
I know what you mean though, i have friends who are always talking about how great they are (even if it isnt!)

Either do it or stop moaning. They care enough to send you a letter, the least you can do is let them know that their friendship is misplaced if that is the case.
