After watching an M&S advert, it occurred to me that if I were to be preparing a Christmas dinner, I would probably be drawn into the laziness / hassle free angle and get the Turkey and trimmings etc from M&S.

Luckily, I am a guest as opposed to a host, so no worries for me this year

What about you?

I'm cooking for the first time for my family this year.

Doing Turkey and Duck...

Bit scared though as my oven is quite small. Got to cook the turkey the night before.

I'm also still undecided on garnish, any good ideas?!

A traditional Turkey and trimmings for me, and Beef Wellington and trimmings for her. lick

Trimmings this year to include:
Roast potatoes
Honey roast parsnips and carrots
Obligatory sprouts (steamed)
Peas
Maybe a floret or 2 of steamed cauliflower
Pigs in blankets
Sage and onion stuffing
Yorkshire puds
Cranberry sauce

I'll also do a roast gammon for when the neighbours come over in the evening.

Between Christmas and New Year, I shall mostly be serving various leftovers cunningly disguised as freshly cooked delicacies whistlewink

Guest at my S in L.

Home reared goose and duck and locally bought turkey as they live on a smallholding in Lincolnshire.

I think there will be about 21 of us.

We all chip in with the cooking and end up finally sitting down at about 4pm.

Hopefully S in L's hubby has got his field bike going so I can have a blat around the paddock (obviously before any alchohol is consumed).

Venison in red wine sauce and juniper berries, garnished with rosemary and thyme (not the garden detectives) and served with roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings, cabbage, sprouts and parsnips.

My Dad's offered to do the dessert (slightly apprehensive as he's something of a stranger to the kitchen but here goes).

Turkey and Goose.

All from scratch, nothing pre-prepped. Even the cranberry sauce.

I'm not cooking or being cooked!

But the GF's folks are doing the traditional thing, they never do enough of those sausages in bacon thing and I look like a pig for taking half off the plate in one go.

MrsRoo is cooking for us.

Huuuuge joint of beef. Lovely. This is purely because her dad is coming for lunch and there's not a lot of point him cooking it for himself on his own.

As I'm newly single ( biggrin ) it's a turkey job at my daughters. I'll be supplying my home made chestnut stuffing as I do every year and a gob to help with the wine/champagne/beer disposal.
