What's the deal with this freak? I'm referring of course to his accent.

Claims he's a Scot and whenever he's home speaks in a broad Scottish accent, I've heard him put it on in interviews. But otherwise speaks in that yank twang.

Riiiight. I can understand changing a small amount or adding inflections depending on who you're with - I tend to do the same a little.

My point is, he claims to have a strong Scotiish accent - and it is, I've heard him use it, he sounds like Lorraine Kelly.

However his 'normal' accent is a strong american/canadian one.

When i lived in Aberdeen my English accent got so strong i almost became Stephen Fry.

Hmm, not so much I think. Being Scottish, I tend to speak quite quickly so it's beneficial to slow it down a bit so other people can understand me, (I work with lots of people from an eclectic selection of backgrounds.). Also having an English Wife, I've found that my accent's softened as a matter of course. Put me back in Glasgow and my Wife can't understand me.

I guess it is partly to gain acceptance, but it's a necessity to be understood when dealing with a myriad of people from different backgrounds and I am definitely not ashamed of my accent

On one of his interviews he did speak in his "native" accent, however he said from living away for so long it's not natural for him unless he's at home any more or something like that.

Didn't he say that he learnt the American accent as he got bullied as a kid in America due to his strong Scottish accent? So I guess he grew up with one accent for his parents and family, and another for the rest of the world.
