Went to Next at a retail site at lunchtime today, parked in the only available space at the area of the park where I needed to go. Car in the adjacent space, a Jag S-Type, was reversed into its space with the drivers side wheels on the white lines, mirror obviously well into "my" space. I reversed in to the space and folded my mirrors in leaving about a 1 inch gap from her drivers mirror to the side of my car.
Walking towards the shop, I see a woman in her fifties walking towards me and obviously looking at my car. We passed and I turned to see her standing, shaking her head. I turned and walked towards her:
Her "Is this your car?"
Me "Yes it is"
Her "You need to move, I can't get in"
Me "Pardon me?"
Her "You need to move, you've blocked me in."
Me, moving towards my car, unlocking it "Well, you didn't park very well did you?"
Her "I'm slightly over the line, yes."
Me, about to get in my car. "You can see how busy the car park is, don't you think that's a bit selfish leaving your car like that?"
Her "You're a real gentleman aren't you?"
Me, locking my car again. "Yes I am actually but people like you wind me up and if you're going to take that attitude and not even apologise then you can get in the passenger side."
"What? I'm not taking an attitude."
"Yes you are, you parked too far over, effectively taking up 2 spaces and now you're angry with me because you can't get into your car. I'm not moving it. You can get in the other side."
"Well, Merry Christmas to you."
"Get on with it. If you can't park a car you shouldn't be driving a car. If you can't park a Jaguar then perhaps you should buy a Smart car."
"Seasons greetings."
"I'm an atheist, get on with it. Maybe you could ask your husband to teach you to park one day. "
She gets in her car and after much dragging of the fat wrinkly arse around, gets into the drivers seat. I'm standing watching with my arms folded.
Opening her window "Are you going to stand and watch me?"
Me, cell phone camera at the ready "Yes because I don't trust your maneouvering skills one bit and I want to make sure you don't scratch my car."
Her "Tut."
After a bit of a 3 pointer trying to get out she manages it and gives me the fingers!
Me - applause.
