All Girl TVR Team at Le Mans

Vanina Ickx heads up team

Today we received the great news that Vanina Ickx will drive in a 100% female team at Le Mans in a TVR T440R.

If the team get sufficient budget for 2004 then the team will take part in the whole Le Mans Endurance Series.

More news as soon as we get it...

Do you need to read a map or park the cars at Le Mans?

Good job there are no kerbs - think of the money they'll save in scuffed alloys!

Lets hope the mechanics are men, otherwise there will be no oil in it, & the tyre pressures will be wrong.....

Vanina, is fecking quick driver with a good race record, will be interesting to see how the team does against the raft of 360's and 911's out there that make up the ALMS series. AND how much backing TVR are willing to lend to the team. Wonder Richard is feeling about all that?......

Just looked her record up... certainly appears to be a VERY capable driver. Best of luck to them...

Vanina is the daughter of Jacky Ickx (5 x Le Mans winner I believe). She drove a Viper in the 24h of Francorchamps this year, so she is quite experienced...

I thought she was Jacky's daughter. If she takes after him, she'll should do well.

If she is as good as it is suggested, and there's every reason to believe so given her parentage, it seems a shame that she will be languishing in a team that's been picked for their sex rather than driving ability.

This 'all women' thing has surely been done to death. Let's see women compete on an equal footing and perhaps then they will be treated seriously in competition. This is holding them up to ridicule.

God help them if they're all blonde. Best hope they paint lots of direction arrows on the track. Mind you blondes are used to being ridiculed.
