As most of you might know I work on a helpdesk carrying out server disaster recoveries.

I had a call this am from a customer who was restoring his win2000 domain controller.

I asked what went wrong to need a recovery

"We tried to forklift it"

Reminds me of a mate who crashed his work laptop. Took it to the IT services peeps for repair/replacement:

"I've crashed it and now it doesn't work."
"What was the error message?"
"There wasn't one."
"You mean it just locked up, blue screen, what?"
"No nothing like that, it wasn't switched on."
"Well PCs don't just crash themselves, you must have been fiddling with it, what were you doing?"
"Like I said, I crashed it. At about 80 mph, when somebody pulled out in front of me. Those boot marks across the case are from the fireman who cut me out. Now, can I have a new one please?"

Guilty as charged - I was on the phone to the customer (a yank no less) when I browsed to that page - spooky!

Remember reading about an IBM support call where a bloke called in saying 'Our AS/400 has fallen over'
Chap on the end of the phone asked for the fault code on the front of the machine, and the fella replies 'No mate, its fallen over, the floor collapsed...'
