... that's a mouthfull!

Anyway, I was considering it as my next company car.

Does anyone have any experience of these yet? Is the quattro a welcome addition or not really needed? (would save me £22 per month). what's the general view on what the medias are reporting regarding the offset of the pedals, is it really that bad?

Fleet manager is trying to arrange a test drive but it seems it's a difficult thing to find at the moment. Any info welcome.

Cheers.

Pedal offset? I drive all sorts of things and can't say it affects me at all in current A4.

TDI 170 is a wheel spinning devil in FWD guise if you're keen to press on, quattro keeps it nicely harnessed and gives a lovely feeling of security and safe pace if not the last word in excitement.

Wheel spin was one of my concern. I currently have a Golf TDi140 and the ESP lights up regularly enough, especially when trying for quick getaways at junctions.

quattro is your friend if you want to all but eliminate wheelspin when pulling out of junctions.

be careful if you drive a fwd car afterwards, you get used to the traction of quattro and fwd cars dont pull out of junctions very quickly with 1 wheel spinning up!

Ive got the service manager's A4 3.0 tdi Quattro while mine's in for work (again!). Not pedal offset as such, but my left foot keeps hitting the transmission tunnel down by the foot rest. Not a huge issue granted, but it is rather annoying.

I have a Passat Sport TDi 170 and keeping traction on these damp winters nights is a nightmare. It is hard not to get the TC light flashing away. I would have a quattro system if I could.

I guy I work with has complained about lack of drive out of corners since he moved from his previous shape S3 to BMW coupe. I took him out for a ride in my own 335D, he bought one teh following weekend
even though its RWD rather than FWD all those torques are not easy to plant on the road....maybe a A5 3.0TDI would have suited him better.

In fact I've realised last week whilst on a business trip in Germany that the Passat TDi exists in 4Motion over there

I'd agree with this; it's not that the pedals are offset, just that there's a big intrusion in the driver's footwell. My feeling was that it did get in the way, and would probably cause me some discomfort on a long trip as I couldn't put my left leg/ankle/foot in a naturally relaxed position.

One for a test drive before committing I think.
