I was looking forward to this, but have just had a note that they are cancelling it for F1 work.....

Any other Turkey-dodging events that can be recommended?

Always a wise one Jonny hehe

Lets face it, "March-ish" usually means November when dealing with construction projects!

I'll live in hope though...

The closure is just to put a new tunnel under the track (can't just remember where) they haven't even applied for any planning permission for any upgrades to F1 standards. F1 at Donington will not happen.

I thought the whole transfer of F1 to Donnington thing was just Bernie's ploy to do away with the British GP so he could sell the slot to a site in the Middle or far East for twice the money he would have got from Silverstone. The fact that Donnington haven't even applied for planning permission for the necessary very major improvements required by 2010 would indicate this might be true.

Latest news:

"The circuit's planning permission will be decided on January 8 and work will take between nine and 10 months. The circuit has 15 months available but Gillett says the credit crunch has actually helped him as more builders are now available."

Does anyone remember the sketch on 'Not the Nine O'Clock News' with the builders quoting for the Channel Tunnel job?
